One of John's familial Old World center qualities was that of unwaveringness

history channel documentary One of John's familial Old World center qualities was that of unwaveringness, and when he later discovered that Bulger and Flemmi were FBI sources who released valuable data, some of it even accusatory against John, he got to be chafed. The truth of the matter is, he flipped out and after that continued to flip on the flippers, turning into a key government witness and in the process uncovering the connections between the Bulger pack and the FBI's Boston office. Consequently for his "participation" and admission to 20 murders, he served just 12 years and got $20,000 door cash upon his discharge. Said U.S. Lawyer Donald Stern, "The main thing more regrettable than this arrangement was not doing this arrangement."

Of the homicides, Martorano inconceivably and tranquilly expressed, "I generally felt like I was making the best choice. Regardless of the fact that it wasn't right, I generally attempted to make the best decision."

Today, while the mother of all rats, Whitey Bulger, spends whatever is left of his life in jail, John Martorano and Kevin Weeks (another fatal Bulger authority and honest nark who composed the convincing "Severe: The Untold Story of My Life Inside Whitey Bulger's Irish Mob," are allowed to walk the boulevards of Quincy, Dorchester, and South Boston having done their time and having made their arrangements. Dissimilar to Joe Barboza, they needn't bother with any witness insurance in light of the fact that there is nobody left from whom to be secured.
